Getting better medical supplies from GP?
I need advice on hows best to approach my GP regarding getting better equipment for my medical condition.I currently use butterfly needles for my subcutaneous infusion, and have been told to ask for an alternative as butterflies are too painful and intrusive. It has been recommended I have Thalaset or Softset needles, I have asked the district nurse but she said I'd have to refer back to my GP. I know he is going to say I will have to have them on prescription because they are more expensive than butterflies, but I don't see why I should pay How do I approach this, and get round having to pay for NECESSARY medical supplies? There is a drug I could have instead of the sudcut infusion, but I have to have the infusion " because of lack of funding, that is why I am adamant I am not paying for the needles on prescription, if I have to pay, I want it to be for the oral version of the stuff I have to have injected for 12 hours It infuriates me that there is a post code lottery regarding drugs and equipment, perhaps I could try another PCT? or does it have to be the PCT for the area you live?

Does anyone know any websites that explain the arrangement of medical supplies in the back of an ambulance?
I'm writing a research project and proposal on how to change the arrangement of the back of the ambulance. I am an EMT B and our current arrangement is not exactly logical in patient care. I am trying to get my company to allow re arrangement of the supplies and tagging so that everything is always accounted for, everything is in the same spot no matter what truck I'm in, and patient care can be done quicker when the supplies are withing reach and not blocked by the cot. I need sources for information on how other companies or fire stations anything really on a logical way to organize the truck. There are no drugs on my truck usually because I am on a basic truck.

How can one remove a bullet with minimal medical supplies?
For reasons that I would rather not go into, going to a hospital is not an option. I have an incredibly wide array of knives several pairs of needle nose pliers. I have gauze, medical tape, needles and thread, magnets, alcohol, peroxide, bleach, hypodermic needles and powerful painkillers. I have some rough idea of how stitch myself up, but I'd better get the thing out first. The wound is to my left shoulder. I still have full range of motion and my bones seem to be intact. I'm still bleeding, so I sooner is better than later.Hypothetical situation by the way...

What can I do with all these unused medical supplies?
My last roommate had to have a pick put in so he could get factor everyday because he is a hemophiliac. As a result, he had to have gloves, bandages, dressings alcohol swabs, syringes, etc delivered. When he moved out, he left 2 boxes full of supplies. We contacted him yesterday the other day and he said he didn't need them. Do you think the local hospitals would accept them or is there some organization out there that can use them? I would feel bad throwing it all away but it is taking up space. They're the little syringe things without a needle on them.

Is it okay to donate unused/no longer needed medical supplies?
My client has been taken off insulin, the doc says he no longer needs it.His home health care nurse has ALOT of clients on insulin who are very low income and on fixed income.Would it be okay for me on behalf of my client to give thse supplies to him to give to his less fortunate clients?Justthe syringes and testing strips which are all still in the original sealed packages. The VA won't take them back and I really feel bad just tossing them after destroying the syringes if someone who can not afford them could really use them. What do you think? The cost of these supplies is astronomical. P.S. Already called several drug rehab clinics and they said NO,they willnot accept them. Thank you all for all your help with this, and my previous ?s.

Going to a concert, need to bring medical supplies?
I feel silly asking this, but I've never been to a concert before and I hear they're understandably very anal about what items people can and cannot bring. However, I have diabetes and will have to bring insulin and syringes in. Will I need a note from my doctor? I'd hate to be turned away at the door.

Does Canada have any oversupply of physicians, medical supplies, or medical equipment?
A lot of people are against Universal Health care in the U.S. because they fear that waiting lines would be very long. But I read that we currently have about 30 % oversupply of physicians, medical equipment and supplies, while the demand is expected to raise by only 15 %.
